A split is a booking shared by a group. Whoever starts it (the “host”) chooses what is being booked, how many seats there are and, where shown, a deadline to fill them. Each person who joins pays for their own seat.
A split goes ahead only when it fills by its deadline. Until then, your payment may be held on your card (an authorization) or charged, as shown when you pay. If every seat is paid by the deadline, the split is confirmed and held payments are captured. If it doesn't fill in time, it doesn't go ahead: holds are released, and anything already charged is returned as described in section 7.
Host top-up. Where offered, the host may pay for any seats still unpaid so the split goes ahead. A host who tops up pays for those seats and is responsible for them. Seats a host pays for aren't refundable because someone else later fails to pay the host back; sort that out between yourselves.
Open seats and links. A host can share a link that lets someone claim a seat. Claimed seats must be paid within the time shown or they are released. We limit how many seats one person or connection can claim, to keep splits fair.
Joining people you don't know. If you turn on “Suggest me for open seats” we may suggest you to hosts with open seats in the categories you choose. It's off unless you turn it on. Use your own judgement when meeting people, and see section 12.
Prices, availability, times and details come from the Business and can change until your booking is confirmed. Some prices (flights especially) can change while a group is paying. If the price of a split changes before it is confirmed, we'll show you the new price before anything more is taken.
