Hip Hop on the water.

Hip Hop is programmed on request rather than sitting on the fixed calendar. Someone proposes a date, and SplitClub sources the vessel, the crew and the sound around it — the cost of the day is then split across the group that claims the places.

The sound

Rhythm and voice. Contemporary hip hop in Miami mostly means trap — 808 sub-bass, rolling hi-hats, half-time drums — but the format covers everything from classic boom-bap through current radio.

Hip Hop in Miami

Miami is one of the most important cities in American rap. It has its own lineage running from Miami bass through the 2000s Miami rap era, and Rolling Loud — now the largest hip hop festival in the world — was founded here in 2015 and still holds its flagship edition in the city.

How the club programs it

Programmed as an afternoon day party. 808 low end is the hardest thing to reproduce in open air, so the club sizes the system for it specifically rather than using a general-purpose setup.

Every SplitClub day works the same way underneath the music. The club arranges one vessel for one date, with its captain and crew, and programs the route, the hours and the sound. People take single places rather than hiring a boat. Contributions are held through our state-of-the-art payment processing system until the day is fully funded — if it does not fill, it does not sail and nobody is charged.

Frequently asked questions

Does SplitClub host hip hop boat parties in Miami?

Yes. Hip Hop on the Bay is a standing club format, programmed as an afternoon day party.

Can the system handle 808s?

It is specified for it. Open air absorbs low frequencies, so hip hop days get a system chosen for sub-bass rather than the standard deck setup.

Is there a separate R&B day?

Yes. R&B Sunset Cruise is programmed separately and runs slower and later.
